The De-Listing Has Happened. Here’s What Comes Back (and What Doesn’t)
Dear DarkStar Customers,
The de-listing has now happened. Over 100 flavours and more than 500 products have come off DarkStar, Sweet Vapes, Daily Vapes, Vapegoo and Juice Cabin.
If you got an order in before the cut-off, thank you, and rest easy: every order placed in time will be made and shipped, whatever the queue looks like. If your order is in, it is pre-tax, even if we ship it in October. The duty applies to when we make it, not when the courier arrives.
One deadline left
The vape tax arrives on Wednesday night. From 1 October, every 10ml of e-liquid made in the UK carries £2.20 of duty plus an additional 44p of VAT before anyone has added a margin. Anything we make from Thursday onwards is made with duty on it and will unfortunately be priced to match. That covers Nicotine Shots, Base Mix, VG, PG, Shortfills, Longfills and 10ml e-liquids, and we're treating Bottle Shots the same way, because we'd rather be cautious with the law than clever with it.
The good news
Most of the de-listed products will be back in October, tax-free. Coming off the site is temporary for most of them while we count what's left.
The bad news
The remaining stock is thin for the majority of products and will run out quickly, as we've only made a dedicated reserve for bestsellers.
We also haven't been able to make as many as we'd have liked because this month has seen so many orders.
Before anything de-listed returns, we need to count exactly what pre-tax stock we hold, so that what goes back up is accurate to the bottle. That count happens once we've shipped every order placed before the de-listing. Listings will return as we work through the count, and when a listing's stock hits zero it comes down.
Some may return again with vape duty on, but the catalogue will have to be much slimmer in the new tax environment as we can't afford to keep as many bottles on the shelf when we have to pay the tax as we manufacture the bottles (not when we sell them).
Expect de-listed flavours/products to reappear for a short time over the course of the next week or so.
We are also making as much as we physically can before Wednesday, and everything made in time sells at pre-tax prices until it runs out.
September has been the biggest month in this company's history, and the same orders that made it busy have eaten into the time we wanted for stock-building.
We have made less for October onwards than we originally planned. There will be variety, and most of your favourites should hopefully be there, but I can't tell you how long any of it will last, and once it sells through we cannot make more at pre-tax prices. Not ever.
So that is the picture for October: your favourites will probably reappear for a short time at least, and still at a good price. But please do watch the site and subscribe to our mailing list.
If you see a product re-listed that you want more of, you should probably buy it - if it was delisted at all then it's not a bestseller and we will only have what's left on the shelf. It's only bestsellers that haven't been delisted at all that we probably have a few months worth of.
What to do with the time left
Everything still live is pre-tax until Wednesday night, guaranteed. Concentrates keep for years stored cool and dark, so ordering 24 months of the flavours you rely on is sensible, not excessive. The stocking-up guide covers quantities and storage.
Pre-tax manufacturing ends Wednesday night, and not a minute past. Thank you for the month you have given us. Use the last of it well.
